The Live Search Maps Gadget is back!

Donavon West, whose company LiveGadgets.net was hired by Microsoft to develop the Live Search Maps Gadget originally, has announced via LiveSide that the Live Search Maps gadget is back and available for download! This awesome gadget lets you look at traffic in many different cities. I use this gadget all the time especially when traveling up to Seattle.

Donavon says work has been done "under-the-hood" so visually the gadget won't look much different than before. He also says new cities have been added: Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, San Antonio and Toronto. New cities will automatically show up in the Live Search Maps Gadget when they are added going forward.

This gadget is a must-have for folks who commute and do quite a bit of traveling.

dovella, link works for me just fine here. What are you getting? It looks like gallery.live.com might be a little slow right now... other than that, I can download the gadget just fine.

this is a page link for me

in Italy

dovella, the gadget may be only available to North American users (U.S. and Canada) as it only covers cities over here in North America. So even if you could access the gadget, it wouldn't do you any good being in Italy.

I will have to ping the Windows Live Gallery folks and see what is going on with the gadget availability.

dovella, I see your error but I am not getting that error over here on my PCs. I am not sure what is going on by my guess is that the gadget is only available for North American users. I will need to do more search as to what is going on.

Actually I was tempted to buy Streets and Trips with GPS, but I was unsure if the GPS locator would work with Live Search Maps, does it?  I was thinking the GPS locator only works with the Streets and Trips software on the disc provided?

On the bid for Yahoo...

Guess I'll have to download all my old yahoo.co.uk emails before Microsoft takes over and starts charging for Forwarding to Outlook!

Good news though, although if Yahoo and Live Mail merge please keep the classic views for both at least for a while, I'ld have to say that the new interfaces on both Yahoo Mail and Live Mail are fairly similar and both look very Outlook Web Access like.... so I wouldnt mind them new interfeces merging.

Still not sure what the big advantage of owning Yahoo is, maybe Yahoo Music?  Any Ideas!

newscientist2000, this isn't the right forum to discuss the Yahoo! news of today unfortunately.

In regards to the GPS locator - it does not work with Live Search Maps as far as I know. I own Street and Trips 2008 with the GPS locator device and its pretty slick. I have it running on my Samsung UMPC - with of course Windows Vista.
